Nam Joo Hyuk Dominating Over Grazia, The Celebrity & Céci

Model turns actor, Nam Joo Hyuk, are dominating three major magazines and can be found in January 2016 issues of Céci, Grazia and The Celebrity. I think among the three, only Céci’s pictorials fit my taste. And no, it has nothing to do with those chocolate abs. Ahem. They look good, but cross my heart, it’s not that.

This super tall boy (188 cm) made his screen debut in tvN’s Surplus Princess (Note: he gave his first onscreen kiss to Kim Seul Gi from Oh my Ghostess. Lucky her. Hee!). However, the drama that propelled him to fame is KBS’s franchise school series, Who Are You: School 2015, starring alongside child actress Kim So Hyun and idol actor Yook Sung Jae. Gibberish-Blab: Answer Me 1988’s Rating is Skyrocketing

10530805_1535891340055843_4308840398971329397_n

tvN’s Answer Me 1988 is unstoppable; the rating just keeps rising steadily each week, with episode 15 clocking in an average of 15-16%, and 17.4% at its highest peak. Now the question is, will it reach 20% by the end of the show? Many years ago 20% seems nothing, when the ratings could go as high as 60%, but 20% these days are considered good enough to call for Deok Sun‘s Appa (Sung Dong Il) bringing out his gingseng wine.

Ratings aside, as happy as I can be for the cast and crew, my concerns still lie with the story. With 14 episodes down, only 6 more to go, it is unnerving that they haven’t had a time jump. I half expected to see a time jump because that’s what everybody has been spreading on the social network, but this week’s episodes were still slowly, and steadily telling the stories of the characters in past tense.

Yamashita Tomohisa — Before Becoming a Monk

004

These are Yamashita Tomohisa‘s old pictures, but since they look so good and nicely scanned (and nicely Photoshopped), I thought I’ll post it for some drool time, and rant about his latest ended drama, From 5 to 9. I initially plan to write a drama review after it ends; however, I lost my mojo for a proper post. Thus, I’m just going to spill it all out in this one.

A few of these images are from a magazine named WWD Japan, and the others, I have no idea; I just happened to chance upon it on the social media network. So. Let’s talk about From 5 to 9 (also known as 5-ji kara 9-ji made) since I’m not exactly proficient swooning at images with descriptive words.

InStyle with Park Seo Joon in New York

Hey, handsome! Looking really good in these photoshoot. Here we have it, the January 2016’s issue of InStyle  photoshoot done in New York, where I questioned if Park Seo Joon actually went there to work, or to play—since he and his managers looked like they were having waaaaayyy too much fun there touring the Big Apple.

I wouldn’t blame him for not wanting to look around. There were LOTS to see in the city. I especially love the arts and crafts I see as I walk the streets in New York City.

First Peek! Official Posters for Madame Antoine

1450656905-98

Ooohhhh~ me likey the poster theme of this drama. It has a Harry Potter–Professor Cybill Trelawney’s feel to it, the pretty version that is. But then posters are often misleading, as I have learnt from experience—it doesn’t represent the quality of the drama—not at all.

That said, here we have two beautiful (and tall) people — Han Ye Seul (Birth of a Beauty) and Sung Joon (High Society) helming JTBC’s upcoming drama named Madame Antoine. Other supporting actors include 2AM’s Jinwoon (Marriage Not Dating) and Lee Joo Hyung (Naeil’s Cantabile).

First Peek! Youth Over Flowers in Iceland

12391042_910094275735887_5714558992107532488_n

Not so long ago, the infamous and notorius Na PD (Na Young Suk) sent three actors — Jung Sang Hoon (37), Jo Jung Suk (35) and Jung Woo (35) to the Iceland to film tvN’s real life variety show—Youth Over Flowers. Little did we know that immediately after attending the award ceremony, Kang Ha Neul (25) also took off (note: without any luggages and still in his suit) to join the boys!

And here we have today, the official poster of the boys freezing to death in Iceland, with the caption “It’s so cold, might as well stay at home.” Ha. Seriously, even if Na PD gives me USD 1 million dollar, I would probably NOT want to embark on this journey. Imma not Princess Elsa. Continue reading “First Peek! Youth Over Flowers in Iceland”

Lee Sung Min Confirmed for Movie ‘Real’ Against Kim Soo Hyun

12593905_1743680575867665_7259429669790729891_o

News came out today that Lee Sung Min is confirmed to star in upcoming 2016 movie, Real (리얼). Holy shit! Lee Sung Min and Kim Soo Hyun in a movie? This is one greaaaat news—Yes? Yes!

Kim Soo Hyun (The Producer, You Who Came From the Star) has already confirmed playing the male lead months ago, and audition is opened to pick the female lead, but no news regarding that as of yet. It’s a bit risky, but I am going to hope that the female lead holds no heavy scenes in this movie; hence, they did not mind casting a rookie actress. With Lee Sung Min on board, oh my god, I can’t wait and hope this movie will be something worth the anticipation.

Star Intro: The Multi-Talented Park Bo Gum

IMG_20160105_003827

Park Bo Gum (박보검) — the boy who has the sweetest smile — first captured my attention when he played the Cellist, Lee Yoon Ho, in Naeil’s Cantabile (2014). I was immediately smitten by his sunny smiles, and his synergy as the conductor with S Orchestra. At the time I thought, “Geez the music he was conducting sounds messy (as compared to Nodame Cantabile’s Rhapsody in Blue)”, but I couldn’t take my eyes off of him because he was so charming while conducting. I find myself wishing he is Chiaki Shinichi instead whilst watching the drama.

As the second male lead who appears much later in the drama, it would usually take longer for viewers to connect with the character, but Park Bo Gum is a scene stealer, and has immediately stolen my heart. Continue reading “Star Intro: The Multi-Talented Park Bo Gum”
