Legend of the Blue Sea Posters & Stills

Writer of You Who Came From the Star, Park Ji Eun teams up with director of City Hunter and Master SunJin Hyuk, making a grand return with new drama, Legend of the Blue Sea. Joining them are two hallyu stars, Jeon Ji Hyun and Lee Min Ho. OMG, I can’t believe it’s really happening! It felt like yesterday I was watching Chun Song Yi drives Do Min Joon up the wall, LOL. Gosh I miss the alien couple, and now we are looking at future mermaid couple.

This drama on certain level means a lot to the people involved. It’s the first since Jeon Ji Hyun had a baby, and it’s also the first in THREE FREAKING YEARS for Lee Min Ho since he last did The Heirs in 2013. Can’t believe he made drama fans waited this long. 😤

To be honest, it’s uncertain whether this drama will become a big hit like You Who Came From the Star where Star was refreshing because it’s about an alien falling in love with a human. However, this is a story of a mermaid—a story that we grew up listening to or watching the cartoon and/or reading the book. There is definitely a lot less WOW-factor in comparison. So just how much magic Park Ji Eun can whip up to make it a huge success I really don’t know. A lot will depend on Jeon Ji Hyun and Lee Min Ho’s charm that is for sure. Will it be as big as this year’s Descendant of the Sun or The Heirs? I sure hope so, because heck, Park Ji Eun is a waaay better writer.

Today’s newly release stills show the first encounter of mermaid, Sim Chung and Heo Joon Jae. To be precise, it should be the first encounter for Joon Jae, not Sim Chung, since she has already met his past life back in Joseon era.

Their first so-called encounter will be filled with laughter according to the teaser preview. Sim Chung breaks into Joon Jae’s home and steals food. She tries to hide when he rose from his beauty nap. He eventually finds her and gives him a few good kicks before he is able to catch her and tie her up.

God I’m glad Lee Min Ho isn’t going to wear those curls throughout the show, because he looks way better in straight hair. He also looks great being a lawyer in these stills. Oh wait, I should re-phrase, he is pretending to be lawyer. In truth, Joon Jae is a con man, but he doesn’t swindle just anyone.

Omona, the City Hunter look is back!!! 😍😍😍 How have I missed this. I almost wanted to skip making a post for this drama until I saw these 3 gorgerous stills. In all honesty, it isn’t just the City Hunter-feel that attracted my attention; it was Lee Min Ho’s eyes. There are not very many actors who can emote with their big and crystal-clear eyes, but Lee Min Ho is definitely one of them. He has been away from the small screen for too damn loooong that I am not unsure he could make my heart palpiate like he used to, but still, I wish Heo Joon Jae and Legend of the Blue Sea had enough magic to undo and reverse the curse of The Heirs.  🙏

Legend of the Blue Sea is set to air on Wednesday – Thursday on SBS, November 16.
